No alcohol involved, or sugar.
When we made this video a couple of years ago, Trader Joe was still selling the perfect sugar-free, dark chocolate bar, “Simply Lite.” Then, one day, as happens often with Trader Joe, it was gone. No more Simply Lite.
So now, we need a replacement: dark chocolate, sweetened with allulose, monk fruit or chicory root — not erythritol or stevia. Then all you do to frost our fabulous brownies, of Brownies for Breakfast fame, per the video above, is put a couple of tablespoons, maybe 3, of your favorite milk-like substance into a microwavable cup or bowl with the chocolate bar, busted up, and nuke it for 10-15 seconds until it melts. Stir til it’s smooth, and there’s your frosting. Slather it on the brownies, decorate it the way you want, and it firms up when it cools. That’s it.
Of course it’s even better if you have a lovely, snarky pal to help out. (Also per the video.)
In case you’re still not convinced that quitting sugar is what you need to do, know that oncologists, gastroenterologists, and dermatologists are now prescribing sugar-free diets for patients as the first, best way to cure what ails you.
Can you help us find a good chocolate bar replacement? Do you know of a yummy sugar-free chocolate bar, with or without nuts, that would work? Please let me know, and we’ll feature it (and you?) right here in Substack Land. You will win my eternal gratitude and something else fabulous to be decided. Meanwhile, I’ll be out there on the hunt, too. Share this Substack with pals, please, and let me know how you’re doing!
ChocZero and Coracao bars
Hi Lynne, I like IQ bars which only have a small amount of sugar. https://www.eatiqbar.com/products/almond-butter-chip
